Ministry: Russia’s diamond output falls 1.4% in Jan–Jun

MOSCOW, Nov 2 (PRIME) -- Russia’s diamond output fell 1.4% on the year to 18.225 million carats in January–June, according to the Finance Ministry’s documents seen by PRIME on Wednesday.

In monetary terms, diamond output decreased 16.6% to U.S. $1.684 billion in the period with the average price decreasing to $92.8 per carat against $109.13 in the same period of 2015.

In April–June, Russia exported 10.109 million carats of diamonds worth $1.198 billion, of which 6.086 million carats of diamonds worth $654.538 million were exported to Belgium. Imports of diamonds in the period stood at 5,680 carats worth $18.43 million.
